About the role

Senior Accountant (Full Remote)

Join Function to support the Finance and Accounting team by ensuring accurate and timely accounting operations.

Key responsibilities

Own key areas of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, including:
- Preparation of journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules
Maintain accurate general ledger integrity through account reconciliations
- Resolve reconciling items and variances in a timely manner
Prepare account reconciliations and support financial analyses
Support audit, reporting, compliance, and finance process improvement initiatives
Identify and implement process improvements to:
- Increase efficiency
- Strengthen internal controls
- Improve accuracy of financial reporting

Requirements

4+ years of progressive accounting experience (preferably a mix of public accounting and start-up environment)
Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting
Experience with:
- Month-end close
- Account reconciliations
- Financial statement preparation
- Audit support
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
High attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
CPA designation or active pursuit of certification

Nice-to-haves

Exposure to multi-entity or international operations
Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as Rillet or NetSuite (or similar)
Experience improving accounting processes, implementing internal controls, or supporting system upgrades
Exposure to subscription-based or technology-enabled services
Interest in leveraging automation, AI-enabled tools, and new technologies to improve accounting processes
