Senior Accountant, Fixed Assets

Role Overview

Senior Accountant, Fixed Assets at Brightspeed, supporting accurate Fixed Assets accounting and reporting for a large fiber network. You will help drive the month-end close and reporting by managing Fixed Assets and related construction journal entries and partnering with stakeholders and finance teams.

Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and process capital asset additions, disposals, transfers, and other asset transactions
• Maintain and close the Asset Management SAP subledger and monitor aging balances for assets under construction
• Assist with monthly/quarterly/annual Fixed Assets reporting
• Analyze and document income statement and balance sheet fluctuations monthly
• Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations with supporting documentation (including subledger-to-GL reconciliation)
• Perform internal processes for capitalized labor and capitalized interest calculations, allocations, and recordings
• Review and improve analysis, controls, and analytical processes
• Support internal management reporting, external GAAP reporting, and external audit activities
• Contribute to internal management relationships and perform special projects as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5–8 years of hands-on experience as a business owner in Fixed Assets accounting
• SAP experience required
• CPA designation preferred
• Ability to organize and analyze large volumes of data and identify/deploy automation solutions
• Proficiency with database tools and financial reporting packages
• Strong communication skills; ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences
• Strong ownership/accountability and ability to meet deadline-oriented requirements
• Adaptable to changing business environments and structure

Nice to Haves

• Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Experience in the telecommunications industry
