About the role
Security Operations Engineer
Work at the frontline of security operations in a globally distributed, high-scale developer platform environment. You will triage security alerts, handle sensitive customer security requests, and support internal IT and identity operations across time zones.
Responsibilities
- Triage security alerts as first responder (threat monitoring outputs, vulnerability advisories) and escalate appropriately
- Handle customer-facing security operations cases such as:
- account recovery
- authentication issues
- ownership verification
- access disputes
- Support incident response via an on-call rotation, following playbooks and escalation procedures
- Maintain and improve operational documentation, including:
- runbooks
- decision trees
- support macros
- Triage internal IT and identity management requests, including:
- SSO
- access provisioning
- device-related support issues
- Ensure clear, accurate communication with customers, engineers, and internal teams during time-critical incidents
- Identify recurring issues and contribute to automation and workflow optimization across security operations
Requirements
- Experience in triage-heavy security/support environments, such as technical support, IT helpdesk, SOC analysis, trust & safety, or fraud operations
- Basic understanding of security principles: authentication, MFA, access control, identity verification, session management
- Familiarity with SSO and identity providers (e.g., Okta)
- Comfort with command-line tools and ability to interpret logs, scripts, or structured data
- Ability to summarize complex/noisy security incidents into clear, actionable insights
- Strong communication skills; remain calm and precise under pressure
- Analytical mindset focused on improving processes, documentation, and workflows
- Ability to work asynchronously across global time zones with strong written communication
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with cloud/developer ecosystems such as AWS and PostgreSQL
- Experience with operational tools such as Front, Linear, Notion, Vanta, Kandji, Jamf, or similar
- Exposure to security activities (e.g., CTFs, bug bounty, open-source contributions)
- Basic scripting/automation experience for support or security workflows
