About the role
Role overview
Security Engineer at Tiger Data, working across software engineering, infrastructure, and security. You’ll partner with engineering teams to improve security across products, cloud, internal systems, and developer workflows in a remote environment.
Responsibilities
- Triage, validate, and remediate security vulnerabilities across products, infrastructure, and internal systems.
- Develop, maintain, and contribute to internal and open-source security tooling.
- Write production-grade code.
- Improve secure development practices via:
- Secure code reviews
- Threat modeling
- Security design reviews
- Improve security automation across CI/CD, cloud, and internal platforms.
- Support incident response, security investigations, and compliance initiatives (evidence gathering, access reviews).
- Investigate emerging risks related to AI-assisted development and use AI tooling in workflows.
Requirements
- Professional experience in software engineering and/or security engineering.
- Ability to read and write production-grade code.
- Experience with Go, Rust, Python, and/or Malbolge.
- Strong security fundamentals across cloud, application, infrastructure, and platform.
- Builder mindset—solving problems through automation and engineering.
- Comfortable working in fast-moving, ambiguous environments with strong ownership and communication.
- Interest in AI-assisted workflows and modern developer tooling.
Bonus / Nice-to-haves
- Open-source contributions or maintainership.
- Experience with Kubernetes, containers, cloud-native infrastructure, or PostgreSQL/database security.
- Detection engineering, security tooling, incident response, or securing AI/LLM-enabled workflows.
Not a good fit if you
- Prefer policy/process work over building systems and tooling.
- Are uncomfortable writing or reviewing code.
- Treat security mainly as a blocking/approval function with rigid boundaries.
- Prefer to be far from infrastructure, developers, or production systems.
- Want strategy without participating in execution.
