About the role

Role overview

You’ll join a high-impact Information Security team as a Senior Cloud Security Engineer (hands-on) focused on AWS cloud security at enterprise scale. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity, remote (EST/CST preferred).

Responsibilities

Design, build, and automate cloud-native security solutions in AWS
Build automation using Python and JavaScript (ES6)
Use AWS CDK and CloudFormation for infrastructure as code
Implement and manage WAF (Web Application Firewall)
Design security detection and response systems using SIEM
Apply MITRE ATT&CK for threat detection
Support threat hunting, incident response, and detection engineering
Integrate security into CI/CD pipelines

Requirements

Strong experience securing AWS environments
Hands-on with CloudTrail, IAM, VPC Flow Logs, and CloudWatch
Experience with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, Sumo Logic)
Proficiency in Python and JavaScript
Knowledge of CloudFormation / AWS CDK
Solid understanding of threat detection and MITRE ATT&CK
Experience relevant to security detection engineering

Nice to have

Security certifications (Security+, GCIH, AWS Security Specialty)
Experience with containers, serverless, and CI/CD security
Exposure to purple team exercises
