Security Engineer (Incident Response + Crowdstrike)

Role overview

Infinite Ranges is seeking a Security Engineer to support a customer Security Operations engagement. This is a short-term remote consulting role for a 24/5 security operations environment, focused on monitoring and incident response in a Microsoft-centric environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, investigate, and triage security alerts and incidents
• Perform incident response using security monitoring and endpoint protection tools
• Analyze/respond to alerts from:
  • CrowdStrike
  • Microsoft Defender
  • Darktrace
  • Grafana and other security platforms
• Escalate incidents and coordinate remediation efforts
• Create and maintain runbooks / SOPs and document investigations and findings
• Provide end-user security support across Microsoft 365
• Support Microsoft 365 administration (users, groups, roles)
• Support Windows 10 / Windows 11 endpoint environments
• Work with stakeholders to improve operational processes and security posture
• Provide support for hybrid environments (e.g., Active Directory and AWS-based services)

Requirements

• 3+ years experience in Security Operations, Incident Response, or Cybersecurity Engineering
• Experience with security alert triage and incident investigations
• Hands-on with CrowdStrike and Microsoft Defender (and/or Darktrace or SIEM/related platforms)
• Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 security and administration
• Experience supporting Windows 10/11 endpoints
• Familiarity with Active Directory and Entra ID (Azure AD) / identity management
• Strong written communication skills and ability to produce SOPs/runbooks
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced SOC-style environment

Nice to have

• SOC experience (24x5 / 24x7)
• Microsoft Security and/or CrowdStrike certifications
• Familiarity with AWS security concepts
• Experience developing incident response playbooks and operational documentation
