About the role
Role overview
Cape is hiring an experienced Security Engineer (Cloud Security) to help reduce risk across its AWS cloud environments. You’ll partner with engineering and SRE teams to design, implement, and maintain security controls that align with regulatory standards, strengthen internal processes, and minimize data security risks.
Responsibilities
- Design and manage AWS security controls and policies to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data and services.
- Conduct security assessments to identify vulnerabilities, evaluate risks, and recommend actionable mitigations.
- Embed security into the DevOps lifecycle to enable secure development, deployment, and operations.
- Use and optimize AWS security tooling, including:
- Amazon GuardDuty, Amazon Inspector
- AWS IAM, AWS KMS
- AWS WAF, AWS Shield
- Evaluate third-party solutions to improve the security posture.
- Support penetration tests and security audits, drive remediation of findings, and ensure timely resolution.
- Stay current on cloud security threats, vulnerabilities, and compliance mandates, and provide strategic guidance on best practices.
- Mentor junior security team members and engineers to build security awareness and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to incorporate security requirements into engineering and business initiatives.
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in security engineering or a related field (the posting begins to specify 5+ years).
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Cloud security expertise with AWS.
Nice to have
- Certifications such as CISSP and AWS Certified Security – Specialty (or advanced degrees).
