About the role

Role Overview

Join Brooksource’s Enterprise Information Security Group (EISG) as a Security Engineer in a newly created role focused on automation and operational engineering. You’ll design, engineer, implement, and support on-premises and cloud-based security solutions, working across hybrid cloud, on-prem environments, and zero trust.

Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and support secure automation and operational engineering solutions across on-premises and cloud
Design operational workflows and remediation capabilities to improve efficiency, consistency, and resilience
Protect key infrastructure and align with privacy, security, resiliency, and compliance frameworks
Provide hands-on support for security systems, platform integrations, and configuration administration
Collaborate with stakeholders to incorporate operational requirements and engineering standards into deployments
Document, standardize, and improve engineering processes balancing security and operational stability
Partner with IT production/infrastructure and development teams to integrate security into engineering design and deployments
Analyze operational issues, identify automation/integration opportunities, and implement improvements
Build enterprise-grade, extensible, maintainable solutions using existing toolsets
Write user stories for security initiatives and support delivery from concept through implementation
Communicate with stakeholders during planning/execution to ensure alignment on requirements and security expectations
Create technical content such as automation tools, reference architectures, and baselines
Participate in change/project management meetings; mentor team members

Requirements

5+ years in operational engineering, automation, security engineering, systems administration, or a related discipline
College degree in technology/CS/engineering (or equivalent experience)
Intermediate+ Python and PowerShell development (scripting, OOP, modules/package distribution, troubleshooting)
Hands-on DevOps and CI/CD experience, including GitHub or GitLab and pipeline development
Strong networking knowledge including micro-segmentation, firewalls, and packet capture analysis
Experience in hybrid cloud/on-premises/zero trust environments
Hands-on experience with REST APIs and secure integration/automation patterns

Nice-to-Haves (implied)

Deep familiarity with network security best practices and secure connectivity patterns
