Security Engineer, Bridge

Role overview

Stripe is hiring a Security Engineer for Bridge to build and scale the security foundation for a stablecoin-based payments platform. This is a rare chance to design a security program from the ground up while leveraging Stripe’s established security practices and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement the Bridge security roadmap from first principles to production
• Identify and address the most critical Bridge security risks quickly and pragmatically
• Integrate with Stripe infrastructure where it fits; build custom solutions where it doesn’t
• Lead threat modeling and hardening efforts for Bridge money movement systems with crypto and infrastructure teams
• Build core security capabilities, including:
  • Monitoring
  • Secrets management
  • Incident response
  • Access controls
  • CI/CD hardening
• Strengthen secure development and secure infrastructure engineering best practices
• Ensure Bridge meets compliance and audit expectations as it expands into more regulated markets
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and Stripe’s Security organization to move fast safely

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in security engineering
• Experience building or scaling security programs at a startup or in an embedded role

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in fast-paced startup environments building security practices from the ground up
• Startup mindset: scrappy, pragmatic, and focused on critical problems
• Comfortable writing/debugging backend application code (Ruby preferred)
• Ability to work with ambiguity and prioritize ruthlessly
• Can balance security rigor with speed
• Strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Interest in crypto and stablecoins for global financial infrastructure

Work model

• Hybrid: office-based or remote (must be 35+ miles / 56+ km from a Stripe office)
• Office-assigned employees spend at least 50% of time monthly in the local office (or with users)
