SDET Engineer

Role Overview

SDET Engineer (100% Remote, U.S.) You’ll bring strong software engineering practices to test automation, designing, building, and continuously improving automation frameworks. You’ll work closely with development teams to embed quality engineering throughout the SDLC.

Responsibilities

• Design and improve test automation frameworks and related tooling
• Write production-quality automated test code
• Partner with product, design, engineering, and operations to translate ambiguous requirements into well-engineered solutions
• Apply a broad testing strategy: unit, integration, end-to-end, performance, and security testing
• Raise the bar through code reviews, design reviews, and mentorship of more junior engineers
• Ensure solutions hold up in production through strong engineering discipline

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience as an SDET or in test-focused software engineering roles
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
• Strong programming skills in Java, Python, JavaScript, or C#
• Hands-on experience with at least one UI automation framework: Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright
• Experience automating REST and/or gRPC APIs
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for test automation
• Solid SQL skills for database validation
• Understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and modern web architectures
• Strong debugging, communication, and documentation skills
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Contract testing tools: Pact or Spring Cloud Contract
• Performance testing: JMeter, Gatling, k6, or Locust
• Security testing tools: OWASP ZAP, Burp Suite, Snyk
• Exposure to chaos engineering / resilience testing
• ISTQB or equivalent QA certification

Salary

• $100,000–$150,000 annually
