About the role

Role Overview

The SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) works within a software development scrum team to ensure delivery of high-quality, stable software to clients. The role focuses on building and maintaining automated test suites, improving quality engineering processes, and integrating testing into CI/CD.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain automated tests across the full stack: UI, API, microservices, and databases
Optimize and stabilize automated test suites for reliability and performance
Contribute to the test automation framework and its continuous enhancement
Apply software engineering best practices across the SDLC (coding standards, code reviews, source control, build/release, continuous deployment)
Evaluate and improve test tooling strategy
Participate in quality discussions and code reviews
Run functional and regression tests; analyze results and report/track defects to closure
Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline for continuous testing/deployment
Participate in Agile ceremonies (grooming, planning, demos)
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and application architecture
Design and document test cases and establish requirements traceability
Analyze architecture to test at the right layer and manage quality gates through release/deployment
Maintain test environments and test data, aligned to staging/production
Act as a functional/quality SME and provide guidance to other SDETs/associates when needed

Requirements

Proficient in coding and object-oriented programming/data structures in one or more of: C#, Java, Python, JavaScript (or similar)
Familiar with Shell scripting

Nice-to-haves (implied from duties)

Experience integrating tests with CI/CD and continuous testing practices
Strong understanding of Agile workflows and scrum team delivery
Ability to work independently on complex feature tickets
Experience working with CI/CD tools, deployment pipelines, and test environments/data
