About the role
Role Overview
Scrum Master supporting a critical application within a federal agency. You will lead a Scrum team and provide day-to-day management, quality monitoring, and leadership for assigned projects, including configuration/release support and program execution activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day guidance and direction to Scrum teams executing project tasks
- Manage resources and track progress against timelines in the project plan
- Apply software development methodologies such as Large Scale Scrum (LeSS) and SAFe, with contract activities identified, documented, and tracked
- Serve as primary liaison with the client to ensure needs are met within scope and contract
- Perform project financial and resource management
- Plan and conduct Program Increment (PI) Planning and manage PI-planning sessions aligned with SAFe and VA VIP process
- Produce metrics and dashboards (tasks, assigned resources, story points) including burn-down charts
- Identify, communicate, mitigate, and manage risks/issues; provide weekly escalation updates to the manager and PMSS Risk Manager
- Plan and support sprint and build releases across environments; coordinate with Test and CM managers
- Collect and maintain release documents; ensure compliance user stories are completed and approved by the Release Manager
- Ensure Scrum ceremonies occur efficiently and productively: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Review, and Retrospective
- Surface, track, and resolve dependencies to reduce delays and improve collaboration
- Drive retrospectives to identify actionable improvements and facilitate discussions
- Collaborate with Business Analyst and Program Manager on weekly/iteration-based and quarterly reporting
- Assist with backlog management; clarify goals, scope, and product domain
Requirements
- 10+ years experience supporting software development programs
- 5+ years leading a program using LeSS or SAFe (required)
- Strong Scrum Master experience in an Agile development methodology
- Proven ability to lead Scrum teams with monitoring, including risk/issues management
Nice to Have
- Experience managing Scrum teams within VA and working knowledge of VA VIP management process
