About the role
Role overview
Scrum Master (Data/Analytics-focused, Remote) for two Agile teams in a technically complex environment. You will act as a hands-on servant leader to translate analytics/data visions into actionable backlog items and drive delivery through Agile ceremonies and program execution.
Location/Work model: Remote, with onsite only 2–4 times per year for PI Planning (50 South 16th Street, PA, 19102). Duration: 5+ months (possible extension/hire).
Responsibilities
- Facilitate Scrum/Agile ceremonies for two Agile teams and ensure Scrum/SAFe practices are followed
- Remove impediments; reinforce engineering and Agile hygiene (e.g., WIP limits, tooling consistency)
- Own PI planning for both teams: Pre-PI alignment, During PI facilitation, and Post-PI tracking (including ROAM items)
- Coordinate with Product Owners, stakeholders, and technical leads
- Manage dependencies and represent teams in planning forums
- Participate in client/partner-facing calls
- Coordinate defect fixes and technical upgrades, targeting ~20% velocity impact
- Lead end-to-end delivery activities: discovery, design, build, test, release, stabilization
- Drive readiness checklists and track delivery health
- Orchestrate environment creation (provisioning, configuration, access, certificates)
- Facilitate troubleshooting with Platform/SRE/Network/Security teams
- Champion CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, observability, and monitoring
Requirements (MUST HAVE)
- 4+ years as a Scrum Master in a technical environment
- Strong Agile knowledge: Scrum and SAFe
- Experience with BI tools: Tableau and/or Power BI
- Proficiency in SQL and Python, including familiarity with stored procedures
- Understanding of AWS services; familiarity with AWS Redshift and Tableau
- Strong communication and facilitation skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and teams
- Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps
Preferred qualifications
- CSM / SSM (or equivalent) certification
- Insurance or financial services industry experience (e.g., Disability, FMLA, Life)
- Data privacy, compliance, and secure transmission protocol knowledge
- Deeper data/BI delivery skills (e.g., data modeling: star schema and normalized/denormalized approaches)
- Familiarity with statistical modelers and querying patterns
- Additional AWS/data tool familiarity (e.g., AWS SageMaker, “AWS QuickSuite” as referenced)
- Experience handling multiple projects simultaneously
