About the role
Role Overview
Scrum Master (Remote/Telecommute) within the Optum Serves Technology Product organization. The Scrum Master acts as a servant leader to foster agility and Agile values for high-performing cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Promote and implement Agile/Scrum frameworks, methods, and techniques to enable agility
- Ensure alignment with the Agile Manifesto values and principles
- Coach employees, teams, and stakeholders in modern product development practices
- Facilitate, train, mentor, and coach across team, organizational, and enterprise levels (e.g., Scrum Master, Team Coach, Enterprise Coach)
- Measure progress and improvement using learning milestones
- Support a learning-organization mindset (personal mastery, shared vision, team learning, systems thinking)
- Reinforce Scrum values: focus, courage, openness, commitment, and respect
- Support continuous improvement and a culture of learning
Requirements
- 3+ years in Product and IT environments
- 2+ years in an Agile role (Scrum Master, Product Owner, or Agile Coach)
- 1+ year applying multiple Agile frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, LeSS)
- 1+ year supporting large-scale, multi-team Agile initiatives
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM or equivalent)
- Experience leveraging AI tools within the software development lifecycle to improve quality and efficiency
- Strong written and verbal English communication
- Excellent facilitation, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
- U.S. citizenship strongly preferred (and may be mandatory due to DoD contractual requirements)
Preferences
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 25%
- Experience developing/delivering training or curriculum
- Experience shaping DevOps practices and culture
- Advanced or scaled Scrum certifications
- Healthcare industry experience
- Familiarity with related frameworks/methodologies for delivering organizational value
- Engagement in Agile industry communities
