About the role

Role Overview

Senior Scrum Master supporting a federal customer in a fully remote capacity. You will lead Agile delivery for a multi-year effort modernizing large-scale, mission-critical government systems. An active Secret Security Clearance is required.

Responsibilities

Deliver projects and products using appropriate Agile project management practices, learning and iterating frequently
Partner with the Product Manager to define product roadmaps and translate priorities into user stories
Lead collaborative planning, prioritizing work based on team capacity and capabilities
Matrix-manage a multi-disciplinary team and drive accountability
Ensure products meet appropriate quality expectations for each stage (alpha/beta/production)
Actively share best practices and promote continuous improvement
Proactively identify challenges, remove roadblocks, manage risks/issues/dependencies, and keep teams focused on outcomes

Federal/Program Scope Examples

Migrate mainframe functionality to a cloud environment (AWS GovCloud)
Add modern name search capabilities and improve image handling (larger files, more formats like PDF)
Transition investigative search to Elasticsearch for faster response/report creation
Build new services following microservices architecture using containers on OpenShift
Transition databases from IBM DB2 to an appropriate cloud data store
Update NIEM schemas and IEPDs to support updated functionality and speed retirement of dot-delimited message formats

Predictable delivery: consistent sprint/release commitments with stable velocity
Program impact toward system modernization and mission outcomes
Team effectiveness: clarity, collaboration, accountability, and visible continuous improvement
Risk/issue management: early identification and fast resolution
Stakeholder confidence through clear visibility and trust in execution
Agile maturity improvements: backlog health, sprint quality, and retro outcomes

Requirements

Extensive Scrum Master experience leading teams through complex delivery
Strong communication skills with technical teams and business stakeholders
Ability to operate effectively in a federal, compliance-driven environment
Active Secret Security Clearance required

Nice-to-Haves

Experience working on system modernization, microservices/container platforms, and/or search and data migration initiatives
