Scrum Master (Remote)

Role Overview

Scrum Master to oversee and guide Scrum teams, ensuring they follow Scrum values and Agile practices while removing impediments and coaching teams to improve delivery outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide delivery accountability for 3–4 Scrum teams, including onshore and offshore engineers (sprint predictability, cycle time, release readiness).
• Manage cross-team dependencies across workstreams including platform, QA automation, EDI, FHIR, and production support.
• Surface risks early with supporting data and a recommended path; use early escalation ("silence is the failure mode").
• Coach engineers, product owners, and managers on Agile practices (not just enforcing process).
• Eliminate impediments and drive continuous improvement with evidence.
• Run retrospectives that produce committed actions with owners and dates, and track them to closure.
• Ensure Azure DevOps hygiene and trusted reporting:
  • Board hygiene, query design, dashboards, and leadership-ready status communication.
• Partner on release planning and capacity forecasting.
• Translate team-level detail into decisions leadership can make.

Requirements

• 7+ years in Agile delivery roles, including 5+ years as a Scrum Master supporting software engineering teams.
• Experience running distributed teams (including offshore and/or vendor coordination).
• Hands-on Azure DevOps expertise (boards, backlogs, queries, wikis, dashboards, and process customization).
• Strong Agile metrics fluency (know which metrics matter and avoid gamed metrics).
• Experience in healthcare, payer, or other regulated domains where compliance and audit trails are required.
• Ability to influence without authority across engineering, product, and executives.
• Comfort operating in ambiguity and coaching to bring order.
• Certified Scrum Master (CSM, PSM II, or equivalent).

Nice to Have

• SAFe certification.
• Experience with prior authorization, EDI, FHIR, or clinical workflow systems.
• Background as an engineer, QA lead, or business analyst.
• Demonstrated process improvement that eliminates non-value work.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent experience.
