About the role

Role Overview

Steampunk is hiring a Scrum Master / Project Manager to serve as Scrum Master for an Agile software development team, leading day-to-day delivery of a major mission system for a client. The work leverages PSFA and integrates systems using MuleSoft.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Scrum Master for a high-priority client project and oversee the Scrum team
  • Maintain focus on quality and continuous delivery
  • Lead and manage the Steampunk delivery team contingent
  • Identify, mitigate, and manage risks and issues; correct deviations from plans
  • Define project scope and schedule and focus on timely delivery of value
  • Prepare and distribute progress reports
  • Support team development: hold teams accountable, remove roadblocks, improve capacity, and mentor team members
  • Manage customer expectations and support stakeholder communications and project governance
  • Coach teams on the delivery process, Agile mindset, collaboration, and self-organization
  • Facilitate meetings/workshops using appropriate techniques; create shared stakeholder understanding
  • Help teams produce product/portfolio roadmaps
  • Perform hands-on work as needed (e.g., analysis, design, and change management)

Requirements

  • Must reside within the DC area
  • Authorized to work for any U.S. employer
  • 4+ years experience with Scrum/Kanban methodologies
  • 4+ years experience serving as Product Owner or Scrum Master
  • Must have CSM and SAFe certifications
  • Ability to obtain a government clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent experience/education
  • Strong credibility-building and influence skills; ability to build consensus and achieve goals
  • Ability to help write user stories/epics, identify dependencies, and design solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
  • Flexibility to work with teams, individuals, and executives

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using a studio / human-centered design approach
