About the role
Role Overview
Steampunk is hiring a Scrum Master / Project Manager to serve as Scrum Master for an Agile software development team, leading day-to-day delivery of a major mission system for a client. The work leverages PSFA and integrates systems using MuleSoft.
Responsibilities
- Serve as Scrum Master for a high-priority client project and oversee the Scrum team
- Maintain focus on quality and continuous delivery
- Lead and manage the Steampunk delivery team contingent
- Identify, mitigate, and manage risks and issues; correct deviations from plans
- Define project scope and schedule and focus on timely delivery of value
- Prepare and distribute progress reports
- Support team development: hold teams accountable, remove roadblocks, improve capacity, and mentor team members
- Manage customer expectations and support stakeholder communications and project governance
- Coach teams on the delivery process, Agile mindset, collaboration, and self-organization
- Facilitate meetings/workshops using appropriate techniques; create shared stakeholder understanding
- Help teams produce product/portfolio roadmaps
- Perform hands-on work as needed (e.g., analysis, design, and change management)
Requirements
- Must reside within the DC area
- Authorized to work for any U.S. employer
- 4+ years experience with Scrum/Kanban methodologies
- 4+ years experience serving as Product Owner or Scrum Master
- Must have CSM and SAFe certifications
- Ability to obtain a government clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent experience/education
- Strong credibility-building and influence skills; ability to build consensus and achieve goals
- Ability to help write user stories/epics, identify dependencies, and design solutions
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
- Flexibility to work with teams, individuals, and executives

- Experience using a studio / human-centered design approach
