Scrum Master

Role Overview

As a Scrum Master (Agile Delivery Facilitator), you will apply Scrum and Agile principles to deliver measurable outcomes for complex customer challenges. You’ll enable effective team performance, guide continuous improvement, and ensure delivery success for mission initiatives supporting USPS.

Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate Scrum ceremonies for multiple development teams (3–5) delivering financial/payment capabilities across mainframe, distributed, and cloud platforms.
• Maintain clear sprint goals and coordinated cross-team dependencies.
• Conduct planning, daily standups, refinement, reviews, and retrospectives; keep events purposeful, timeboxed, and engaging.
• Drive continuous improvement of delivery flow and team engagement.
• Manage and resolve impediments (e.g., environment, integration, data, approvals) and reduce carryover, aging blockers, and decision latency without adding heavy process.
• Coach backlog readiness (e.g., thin vertical slices, clear acceptance criteria, limited WIP).
• Ensure teams size work to support accurate project end-date projections.
• Foster psychological safety, inclusive participation, and sustainable pace.
• Maintain visible “radiators”/metrics such as sprint goals, impediment log, and lightweight progress reporting.
• Coach Product Owners / Business Analysts and tech leaders on prioritization, slicing, and readiness.
• Run 1–2 small improvement experiments per team per sprint and follow them through to closure.

Requirements

• 5+ years of Scrum Master / Agile facilitation experience, including 2+ years with multiple concurrent development teams.
• 8+ years of IT experience (minimum).
• Strong communication skills and ability to quickly understand business/technical requirements and government acronyms.
• Proficiency with VersionOne / Agility (or comparable tools) for boards, dependencies, impediments, and lightweight rollups.
• Demonstrated ability to keep ceremonies engaging and effective.
• Ability to coordinate cross-platform and cross-team dependencies (e.g., batch windows vs deployment timing).

Nice to Have

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (preferred). If not held, additional relevant experience is required.
