About the role

Role Overview

The Scrum Master is a servant leader responsible for enabling high-performing Agile teams delivering government-facing software products. You ensure Agile/Scrum principles are applied effectively in a regulated public-sector environment while coaching teams, removing impediments, and partnering with Product Owners, Engineering, UX, and government stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Agile Delivery & Team Enablement

Facilitate Scrum events: Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives (remote environment)
Coach one or more cross-functional teams on Agile and Scrum best practices
Promote self-organizing, accountable, outcome-focused teams
Ensure transparency using Agile tools, metrics, and reporting

Release Management

Partner with Product Owners and Client Support to maintain a weekly release cadence and define release contents
Collaborate with development and management to support smooth, efficient releases

Stakeholder Collaboration

Support backlog refinement, prioritization, and clear acceptance criteria with Product Owners
Work with management stakeholders to align on sprint reviews, planning, and delivery expectations
Bridge communication between technical teams and non-technical public-sector partners

Impediment Removal & Continuous Improvement

Identify, escalate, and remove blockers impacting delivery, quality, or team health
Facilitate retrospectives and drive actionable improvement plans
Foster psychological safety, learning, and continuous improvement

Governance, Compliance & Quality

Support compliance with government standards, security policies, and accessibility guidelines (e.g., Section 508, security reviews, documentation requirements)
Align Agile practices with organizational governance and delivery frameworks
Promote predictable delivery while maintaining agility in regulated environments

Requirements

3+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach
Strong knowledge of Scrum, Agile, and Lean principles
Experience supporting software development teams (engineering, UX, QA, product)
Experience with Azure DevOps boards, queries, and backlog management
Comfortable working with remote/distributed teams
Strong facilitation, communication, and conflict-resolution skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in GovTech, public sector, or highly regulated industries
Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I/II, or equivalent)
Understanding of accessibility/security/compliance requirements for government projects
Experience supporting multiple teams or scaled Agile environments
Familiarity with Azure DevOps Pipelines and Libraries
