Scrum Master

Role overview

Brooksource is seeking a Scrum Master (Remote Contract) to support a Fortune 15 client team. You will lead and support up to five Agile squads across multiple time zones, delivering a custom-built Java application within a large, complex program.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate Scrum ceremonies across distributed teams: daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Act as a servant leader, coaching squads on Agile principles and continuous improvement.
• Remove impediments and promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and transparency.
• Coordinate between squads to manage dependencies and align sprint goals and delivery.
• Partner with Product Owners, Technical Leads, and Program Managers to ensure backlog health and sprint readiness.
• Track and report Agile metrics (e.g., velocity, burndown) and share delivery outcomes, impediments, and risks with stakeholders.
• Build and maintain dashboards/reporting tools for team performance, sprint progress, and program KPIs (e.g., via Jira).
• Support cross-functional communication and alignment across time zones.
• Champion Agile maturity and adoption of best practices across the program.

Requirements

• 5+ years experience as a Scrum Master in large-scale Agile environments.
• Experience managing multiple squads simultaneously, preferably in a global delivery model.
• Strong knowledge of Agile frameworks: Scrum, SAFe, Kanban and Agile metrics.
• Familiarity with the software development lifecycle and custom Java applications.
• Strong facilitation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency with Jira and Confluence (or equivalent).
• Hands-on experience building/managing dashboards in Jira (or equivalent).
• Ability to analyze and present data to drive decisions and continuous improvement.
• Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I/II) or SAFe certification (highly preferred).
• Strong communication skills across time zones and cultures.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IS or related field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred skills

• Experience in enterprise programs with complex interdependencies.
• Ability to influence without authority in a matrixed organization.
