Scrum Master - $48.08 - $52.88 per hour

Role Overview

Experienced Scrum Master supporting a federal Department of Veterans Affairs program. You will guide Agile practices, facilitate Scrum ceremonies, help software delivery teams remove blockers, and drive continuous improvement while collaborating with product leadership, client stakeholders, and senior business leaders.

Responsibilities

• Lead Scrum events: Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, Demos, and PI Planning.
• Build cross-functional relationships to promote collaboration, transparency, innovation, and trust.
• Support teams operating in CI/CD environments by keeping Agile processes running smoothly.
• Proactively identify, track, and remove impediments impacting delivery goals.
• Assist Product Managers with backlog management (clarity, prioritization, alignment with business goals).
• Champion Agile values, quality practices, process discipline, and continuous improvement.
• Coach teams on Agile best practices, delivery processes, collaboration methods, and improvement opportunities.
• Advise senior stakeholders on process standardization and continuous improvement.
• Enable stronger self-organization, cross-functionality, and accountability; support Agile adoption.
• Mediate conflicts and resolve delivery/communication issues across development teams, Product Managers, and stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement by applying Agile best practices and capturing actionable outcomes.
• Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support project success.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a technical discipline, or a relevant field.
• 5+ years of professional experience.
• Proven experience supporting large-scale software development, data management, and system integration.
• Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies and supporting Agile delivery in complex technical environments.
• Ability to brief senior leadership and produce clear, actionable outcomes.
• Proficiency with Agile tools such as Jira or Trello.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders, Product Managers, development teams, and senior leaders.
• Ability to obtain government clearance is required.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with SAFe and Kanban.
• Experience with SAFe/Agile/Scrum practices.
• SAFe, Agile, or Scrum certifications.
• Experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs or other government agencies.
