Role overview
Sales Account Manager (technical sales)
Promote and sell the company’s laboratory product range to increase revenue and profitability across the West Coast territory. You will build new direct sales opportunities while supporting existing customers from a sales perspective.
Responsibilities
- Prospect, identify, qualify, and develop new relationships to generate sales
- Spend ~50% of time visiting customers: build relationships and run product demonstrations
- Spend remaining time at home: quote generation, follow-ups, cold calling, networking, and planning meetings
- Understand customer requirements and present appropriate product solutions (consumables and equipment)
- Organize and participate in international trade shows and exhibitions as required
- Develop and maintain technical expertise in products, applications, and market segments
- Monitor targets and forecast sales within the territory; address gaps vs. expected performance
- Maintain accurate sales pipeline and database; submit business plans and reports
- Work closely with the International Sales Manager and support team for technical queries
Requirements (essential)
- Degree level or higher in a Life Sciences subject
- Strong sales success and experience managing major accounts and large contracts (including genuine sales development)
- Knowledge of life science customers
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (face-to-face, telephone, and written)
- Ability to travel and stay away from home on a weekly basis; extended hours occasionally (evenings/weekends)
- Full driving licence
- Comfortable conducting professional video calls/demonstrations from home
- Adept with Microsoft products
- Ability to work independently and take initiative; self-driven and results-oriented
- Strong organization, planning, and time management skills
Nice to have
- Practical laboratory experience, ideally including sample storage knowledge
Location / travel
- Based in the San Francisco Bay Area with travel across the West Coast (at least 50% travel).
