Retail Operations Manager

Role Overview

Retail Operations Manager working on project-based work to evaluate and improve AI using retail and business operations expertise. No prior AI experience is required.

What You’ll Do

• Design and solve real-world retail management and operations scenarios to test AI reasoning.
• Produce clear, structured solutions covering:
  • Inventory management
  • Staffing
  • Merchandising
  • Performance optimization
• Evaluate AI outputs for clarity, operational accuracy, and business relevance.
• Collaborate with AI researchers to improve understanding related to:
  • Leadership communication
  • Supply chain processes
  • Retail analytics

Requirements

• 4+ years experience as a General Manager, Operations Manager, or Retail Leader.
• Strong knowledge of retail operations, supply chain coordination, and sales execution strategies.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business/Operations/Retail Management preferred (or equivalent experience).
• Excellent English communication and analytical reasoning.
• Must be based in the United States.

Nice to Have

• Prior experience managing multi-store operations and store performance (implied by the general/operations manager scope).

Engagement Details

• Fully remote.
• Contractor assignment / freelancer (potentially full-time).
• Project duration: ~1 month, with possibility of extension.
• Compensation is strong, but the exact amount varies by project.
