Research Scientist

Role Overview

Research Scientist I (Temporary, Remote) Support applied research and prototyping across data-driven and machine learning initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional partners to explore, analyze, and validate approaches that inform product and engineering decisions.

Location & Duration

• Remote (East or West Coast)
• Duration: 6 months (possibility of extension)

Responsibilities

• Focus on video understanding related data processing (requires Python and C++)
• Use/understand basic VLLM tooling and concepts
• Conduct exploratory analyses and experiments using Python and SQL to produce actionable insights
• Prototype, train, and evaluate ML models using PyTorch
• Build and iterate on inference and serving prototypes, including work with vLLM where applicable
• Produce clear technical documentation of methods, assumptions, and results
• Communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including recommendations and limitations
• Follow security and privacy practices when working with data and systems

Required Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience
• Python proficiency for data analysis and model development
• SQL proficiency for querying and transforming structured datasets
• Hands-on experience with PyTorch for training and evaluating models
• Applied research / experimentation / model development experience (industry or academic)
• Familiarity with modern LLM tooling and inference approaches (e.g., vLLM)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to document and explain results clearly
• Ability to work independently and manage time
• Ability to analyze data and accurately document/record results
