About the role

Role Overview

The Research Analyst will provide research and analytical support to the IT-Non-IT Workgroup (ITW) within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). The role supports both funded and unfunded IT and non-IT initiatives by producing research, analysis, and reports to enable decision-making across VHA stakeholders and governance bodies.

Responsibilities

  • Data Collection & Analysis: Conduct in-depth research and analyze complex datasets related to IT and non-IT projects; develop actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present detailed reports, briefing materials, and updates for ITW leads, stakeholders, and VHA executive leadership; maintain documentation to support decisions.
  • Project Support: Help develop project plans, schedules, deliverables, and KPIs for ITW initiatives.
  • Meeting Coordination: Organize and provide logistical support for ITW meetings and briefings, ensuring effective stakeholder communication.
  • Documentation Management: Maintain accessible, traceable documentation for research findings, project updates, and meeting minutes.
  • Support IT/Non-IT Initiatives: Ensure IT and non-IT efforts align with VHA strategic objectives and follow governance processes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Research, Data Analytics, Information Technology, Healthcare Management, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in research and data analysis, preferably in healthcare or government.
  • Prior acquisition and budget experience with a federal agency.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to translate data into strategic insights.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint (and data analysis tools).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with VHA IT and non-IT project funding processes or other federal institutions.
  • Knowledge of New Service Request (NSR) and Multi-Year Programming (MYP) processes.
