About the role

Role Overview

Remote Senior Software Engineer working on cloud-based software as part of a Scrum team. You will design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain services that transform healthcare data into actionable capabilities.

Daily Mission

Plan, design, and develop cloud-based software within a Scrum team
Manage individual project priorities and timelines to meet delivery schedules
Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software using appropriate technologies
Stay current on expanding cloud offerings and trends in software architecture

Reality of the Role

Translate logical application specifications into physical application design
Write application and service code aligned to secure coding guidelines (SES)
Code, test, and troubleshoot complex applications/services across hardware, database, and programming technologies
Develop comprehensive test plans and unit tests
Test and develop programming modifications; analyze and improve application performance
Document issues and resolutions for future reference
Define work assignments for junior team members and mentor them

Required Qualifications

8+ years with InterSystems HealthShare, IRIS, or Health Connect (Ensemble/Caché)
8+ years with XML/XSLT and parsing complex clinical data (CCDA, HL7 v2/v3)
5+ years with Caché ObjectScript, REST, SOAP APIs, and HL7 v2
5+ years with SQL concepts in InterSystems Caché/IRIS
5+ years with FHIR R4 and building/consuming RESTful healthcare APIs
5+ years with modern engineering practices:
- Git/GitLab (source control)
- CI/CD pipelines
- Test-Driven Development (TDD)
Extensive Agile/Scrum experience
Integration leadership experience (e.g., leading technical “Tiger Teams” for high-pressure vendor integrations such as Epic)

Nice to Have / Added Benefit

Cloud infrastructure experience: GCP, AWS, or Azure; BigQuery exposure; GCP GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine)
HealthShare Patient Index experience
3+ years with TEFCA/QHIN frameworks or large-scale HIE interoperability
Familiarity with Unix/Linux commands and core systems concepts (Load Balancing, HA/DR)
