Remote-Accounting Manager

Role overview

Remote Accounting Manager for a full-service accounting firm in Maryland. This role requires public accounting experience and focuses on managing client advisory relationships and leading parts of the team process for staff accountants.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned clients’ consulting/advisory relationships.
• Advise clients on tax planning and strategy; identify and recommend needed advisory services.
• Provide advisory services for select clients and deliver/discuss tax returns (annually).
• Meet with each client quarterly (virtual or in person) to review:
  • corporate/personal projections
  • financial health
  • tax savings opportunities
  • tax planning at least annually
• Meet with each client annually to deliver and discuss tax return(s).
• After advisory acceptance, provide advisory delivery (virtual or in person).
• Support leadership with staff processes:
  • training, hiring, firing, and review input for Staff/Senior Accountants
  • assist with new employee onboarding and ensure program/job training is scheduled and resourced
  • identify/correct knowledge gaps in reviewing Senior work and surface team-wide gaps to the Accounting Services Director (ASD)
• Help ASD with 90-day and quarterly staff reviews and identify team members for promotion/potential leadership.
• Step into client ownership as needed during onboarding/offboarding or unexpected growth.
• Perform peer reviews as requested/needed.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company policies/procedures/regulations.

Requirements

• CPA (preferred).
• 8–10+ years of experience.
• Public accounting experience (required).
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or similar); MS preferred.

• MS degree in a related field.
