Release Train Engineer (Remote)

Role Overview

Release Train Engineer (RTE) supporting a mission-critical Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) cloud platform. You will champion Agile delivery and operational excellence, serving as an Agile coach and impediment remover for a multi-disciplinary, multi-team platform engineering group.

Responsibilities

• Support execution of SAFe Agile ceremonies and sprint operations, including:
  • Program Increment (PI) Planning
  • Sprint Planning
  • Backlog Refinement (Grooming)
  • Daily Standups/Daily Scrum
  • Sprint Demos
  • Sprint Retrospectives
• Drive sprint-level delivery discipline and adherence to SAFe operating cadence
• Act as an Agile coach and removal point for blockers/risks/impediments impacting sprint commitments
• Produce and manage government/stakeholder required artifacts, such as:
  • Daily Scrum Reports
  • Updated Sprint Plans
  • Prioritized Jira backlogs
  • Sprint Demo artifacts
  • Sprint Retrospective reports
• Maintain a prioritized Jira backlog (story creation, acceptance criteria, sprint assignment, and velocity tracking)
• Coordinate SAFe PI cadence across Agile Release Trains in a federal DevSecOps environment

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with Agile delivery
• Strong facilitation experience for SAFe ceremonies in a multi-team federal program environment
• Excellent ability to manage a prioritized Jira backlog (stories, acceptance criteria, sprint planning, velocity)
• Strong knowledge of SAFe PI cadence and coordination across release trains
• Ability to identify, document, and drive removal of blockers, risks, and impediments
• Above-average experience with Jira, Confluence, and Atlassian tooling
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of cloud platform operations to facilitate sprint ceremonies
• Experience supporting federal government programs and enterprise-scale applications in cloud-based or hybrid environments
• Security/Eligibility: Active Federal Civilian Public Trust clearance and U.S. citizenship or Permanent Resident with U.S. residence for at least 3 years

Preferred Qualifications

• SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), CSM, and/or SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification
