Regional Threat Assessment Manager

Role Overview

The Regional Threat Assessment Manager will join Coinbase’s Security organization, within the Protective Intelligence program. The role is a regional lead and subject matter expert for Threat Assessment and Management, owning complex, sensitive threat cases end-to-end while coordinating a multi-stakeholder response.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end threat case management for the region: intake, triage, behavioral assessment, mitigation planning, documentation, and closure.
• Conduct structured behavioral threat assessments using Coinbase methodologies and recognized frameworks (e.g., JACA, WAVR-21, CTAP-25) to evaluate:
  • motivation and capability
  • escalation indicators
  • stabilizers
  • translate findings into actionable operational recommendations
• Lead intelligence-led incident response as the intelligence lead during active incidents, coordinating with GSOC, ensuring timely escalation, and providing decision support.
• Coordinate cross-functionally with Executive Protection, GSOC, Legal, HR/ER, Insider Threat, and Communications to align mitigations and manage reporting obligations.
• Produce decision-ready briefings and executive updates describing threat posture, risk rationale, and next steps.
• Improve regional program maturity by enhancing intake standards, QA/QC, playbooks, metrics, training, and handoff processes, and by mentoring peers.

Required Skills & Experience

• 7+ years in progressively responsible threat assessment/management, protective intelligence, workplace violence prevention, behavioral threat assessment, or closely related security functions.
• Proven senior individual-contributor track record as a regional SME, independently owning ambiguous, high-consequence cases with limited oversight and influencing outcomes across teams.
• Ability to investigate threats and convert fragmented information into structured assessments, prioritized risks, and mitigation plans.
• Proficiency with case management and intelligence tools (e.g., Ontic, OSINT platforms, public records research, social media monitoring) and a history of improving signal quality.
• Experience coordinating with law enforcement, managing referrals, and handling workplace violence reporting obligations across jurisdictions.
• Uses generative AI responsibly with human oversight to produce business-ready outputs and improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
