React Software Developer (Part-Time)

Role Overview

Aretum is seeking a Part-Time React Software Developer to support a federal client. You will contribute to front-end application development with strong focus on responsive design and accessibility compliance.

Responsibilities

• Support a federal client in a collaborative development team
• Work cross-functionally in an Agile environment
• Build front-end applications using React in a Keycloak-based IAM project
• Develop UI with React, HTML, CSS, and APIs (RESTful)
• Create responsive designs meeting accessibility requirements
• Use accessibility testing tools (e.g., screen reader testing)
• Apply knowledge of CI/CD and code repository workflows
• Debug and ensure cross-browser compatibility
• Work with technical staff to enhance web applications
• Contribute to software documentation (e.g., version descriptions, user manuals)

Requirements

• 2+ years professional software development using React
• React 18+ experience
• Bachelor’s degree (or 4 years equivalent experience in lieu of degree)
• Strong front-end skills: HTML, CSS, RESTful APIs, responsive design
• Strong accessibility knowledge: Section 508 and WCAG 2.2
• Experience with accessibility testing tools (e.g., JAWS)
• 2+ years experience with Agile or Scrum
• 1+ year experience with CI/CD environments
• Git experience
• Strong debugging and cross-browser compatibility skills
• Ability to partner with technical staff and address customer/web application issues

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Keycloak (highly preferred) or Java-based open-source software
• Knowledge of UI/UX design principles
• Experience with Jira, Jenkins, Ant, or Maven
• Exposure to Docker
• Exposure to AWS or other cloud technologies
• Strong communication skills

Location / Travel

• Remote position with occasional travel (<10%) as needed for client meetings and project requirements.
