Role overview

React/Redux Frontend Developer (Remote) for a cross-functional team delivering impactful features on VA.gov. This fully remote role supports timely, compliant feature rollouts across customer products.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement UI components with React, Redux, and a design system library.
  • Integrate with REST/SOAP APIs and other web services.
  • Participate in planning, development, and deployment while ensuring adherence to software compliance and testing standards.
  • Oversee frontend development processes; create user guidelines and perform system analysis (data flows, specs, inputs/outputs, programming strategy, control systems).
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure high-quality deliverables and on-time project completion.
  • Provide mentorship/leadership, promote continuous improvement, and establish best practices and coding standards.
  • Work with the team to gather requirements, develop user stories, and plan timelines and estimates.
  • Produce and maintain documentation (reports, operational procedures, maintenance manuals).
  • Lead integration testing efforts to ensure system robustness and seamless functionality.
  • Maintain proactive communication with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Conduct in-depth system requirement analysis to optimize performance (hardware/software needs, I/O, data flow).
  • Participate in code and sprint reviews to ensure contractual and project-spec compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2–5 years experience (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience developing with React/Redux.
  • Analytical and investigation skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience collaborating in a team environment.
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum.
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience with government cloud hosting environments, including AWS.
  • Unit testing and end-to-end testing experience.
  • Code versioning and project management tools (e.g., Jira, GitHub, Confluence).
  • Experience working in a remote environment.
  • Public Trust / Suitability security clearance: must be able to obtain and maintain.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience working with the VA and/or other Federal agencies; familiarity with federal processes and regulations.
  • Strong familiarity with VA.gov and its ecosystem.
  • Experience managing API services within the VA network; optimizing RESTful API transactions.
  • Experience with system integrations, especially CorpDB, MPI, BDN, and/or VBMS.
