Role Overview
State Street is seeking a Senior Lead UI Developer (VP) to drive the design and development of scalable, high-performance enterprise web user interfaces. The role blends technical leadership, hands-on UI development, and architectural decision-making to deliver seamless user experiences aligned with modern UI/UX standards and enterprise IAM/RBAC security practices.
Responsibilities
- Technical leadership across multiple applications and teams
- Define UI architecture, design patterns, and best practices
- Mentor UI developers; conduct code reviews and enforce quality standards
- Collaborate with architects, backend teams, and product owners to align UI with system architecture
- UI development & engineering
- Design, develop, and maintain responsive, high-performance web applications
- Build reusable components and front-end libraries
- Optimize for speed and scalability; ensure cross-browser compatibility and accessibility (WCAG)
- Architecture & secure UI design
- Establish front-end architecture approaches (e.g., micro-frontends, component-driven design)
- Implement state management strategies (e.g., Redux, Zustand)
- Create secure UI design practices aligned with enterprise IAM/RBAC
- Collaboration & delivery
- Work with UX designers to translate wireframes into functional UI
- Partner with backend teams to integrate REST APIs/services
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release cycles
- Ensure CI/CD integration for UI deployments
- Quality & governance
- Enforce coding standards, UI guidelines, and design consistency
- Implement automated testing (unit/integration/UI; e.g., Playwright)
- Address performance, security, and compliance requirements
- Drive technical documentation and reusable standards
Requirements
- 10+ years in UI/front-end development
- 3+ years in a lead or architect role
- Experience building enterprise-scale applications
- Strong expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript and React (preferred); also acceptable: Angular or Vue
- Proficiency with HTML5, CSS3, and Tailwind/Bootstrap
- Experience integrating REST APIs and microservices
- State management (e.g., Redux, Context API)
- Build tooling: Webpack or Vite
- Familiarity with micro-frontend architecture and design systems/component libraries
- Accessibility compliance (WCAG)
- UI testing frameworks: Playwright, Cypress, Jest
- CI/CD integration and tooling: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps; Git version control
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in financial services or other regulated environments
- Experience with IAM/RBAC systems and secure UI patterns
- Cloud experience (AWS, Azure)
- Experience with performance monitoring/observability tools

Compensation
- $125,000 – $215,000 annual salary (primary location-based range)
