Rapid User Researcher

Role Overview

The Curly Doggo Company is hiring a Rapid/Rolling User Researcher (Rolling UXR) to deliver fast, high-signal insights that improve Notion’s product experiences across Product, Design, and Engineering (EPD), including AI-powered workflows such as custom agents and chat.

This is a tactical, high-velocity role focused on “many small studies,” where you run lightweight research on a steady cadence and help teams turn findings into concrete product changes.

What You’ll Achieve

• End-to-end tactical research: Scope, design, and execute quick-turn studies across the product lifecycle with clear recommendations.
• Rolling usability testing: Plan and moderate rapid usability tests on prototypes and in-product flows; identify friction, comprehension gaps, and failure points; recommend fixes and prototype them with AI.
• Concept testing: Evaluate early ideas (e.g., storyboards, low/high-fidelity prototypes, new IA) to assess desirability, comprehension, and expected workflows before heavy build investment.
• Research pipeline ownership: Maintain an always-on cadence by managing intake/prioritization, study scheduling, participant recruitment, and consistent output formats.
• Communication: Provide crisp, actionable readouts (e.g., severity, confidence, recommended next steps) via async write-ups, clips, or working sessions.
• Business-minded impact: Connect findings to outcomes, help teams ensure improvements land, and communicate what to watch going forward.

Skills/Requirements

• Research craft: Ability to independently run usability and/or concept tests end-to-end (scoping → protocol → moderation → synthesis → readout) while keeping scope tight without losing rigor.
• AI fluency: Curiosity and hands-on experience with AI products; ability to translate concepts like trust, usefulness, tone, safety, and clarity into research questions and observable behaviors.
• Pragmatism + speed: Strong prioritization in fast-moving environments; comfort with ambiguity; ability to deliver quality quickly with transparent limitations.

Work Location / Schedule

• Role can be based in San Francisco or New York City.
• Office collaboration on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays (Anchor Days).
• Expected to work alongside teams on those days.
