About the role

Role Overview

Intermedia Lab is seeking a Rapid User Researcher (Rolling UXR) to deliver fast, high-signal insights that improve Notion product experiences across Product, Design, and Engineering (EPD)—including AI-powered workflows such as custom agents and chat.

This is a tactical, high-velocity role built around running many small studies on a steady cadence, helping teams turn findings into concrete product changes.

What You’ll Achieve

End-to-end tactical research: Scope, design, and execute quick-turn studies across the product lifecycle with clear recommendations that drive decisions.
Rolling usability testing: Plan and moderate rapid usability tests on prototypes and in-product flows; identify friction, comprehension gaps, and failure points; recommend fixes and prototype them with AI.
Concept testing: Evaluate early ideas (storyboards, low/high-fidelity prototypes, new IA) to understand desirability, comprehension, and expected workflows before heavy build investment.
Research pipeline ownership: Maintain an always-on research motion by managing intake/prioritization, study cadence, participant recruitment, and consistent output formats.
Communication: Produce crisp, actionable readouts (e.g., severity/confidence/next steps) via async write-ups, clips, or working sessions.
Business-minded impact: Connect findings to outcomes and follow through with teams to ensure improvements land.

Skills You’ll Need

Research craft: Ability to run usability/concept tests independently (scoping → protocol → moderation → synthesis → readout), keeping scope tight without losing rigor.
AI fluency: Curious and hands-on with AI products; able to translate AI-related concepts (e.g., trust, usefulness, tone, safety, clarity) into research questions and observable behaviors.
Pragmatism + speed: Strong prioritization in fast-moving environments; comfort with ambiguity; ability to deliver quality research quickly with transparent limitations.

Location / Work Model

Based in San Francisco or New York City.
In-office Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays (Anchor Days).
