Rapid User Researcher

Role overview

Rapid User Researcher (Rolling UXR) at Notion. You’ll run fast, high-signal user research to improve product experiences across Product, Design, and Engineering (EPD), including AI-powered workflows like Notion custom agents and chat.

This is a tactical, high-velocity role focused on many small studies delivered on a steady cadence.

What you’ll achieve

• End-to-end tactical research: Scope, design, and execute quick-turn studies across the product lifecycle with actionable recommendations.
• Rolling usability testing: Plan and moderate rapid usability tests on prototypes and in-product flows; identify friction, comprehension gaps, and failure points, then prototype fixes with AI.
• Concept testing: Evaluate early ideas (storyboards, low/high-fidelity prototypes, new IA) to assess desirability, comprehension, and expected workflows before heavy build.
• Research pipeline ownership: Manage intake/prioritization, study cadence, recruitment, and consistent output formats so teams can act quickly.
• Communication & readouts: Provide crisp recommendations (severity, confidence, and next steps) via async write-ups, clips, or working sessions.
• Business-minded impact: Tie findings to outcomes and follow through with teams so improvements land.

Skills / requirements

• Research craft: Independently run usability and/or concept tests end-to-end (scoping → protocol → moderation → synthesis → readout) while keeping scope tight without losing rigor.
• Thoughtful AI fluency: Use AI to speed prep/synthesis while maintaining quality and traceability to evidence.
• AI product understanding: Translate concepts (e.g., trust, usefulness, tone, safety, clarity) into research questions and observable behaviors.
• Pragmatism + speed: Prioritize in a fast-moving environment, work through ambiguity, and deliver quality research quickly with transparent limitations.
• Systems thinking: Ability to quickly understand complex, cross-team product contexts.

Location / work model

• Based in San Francisco or New York City.
• Office days: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays (Anchor Days).
