Rapid User Researcher

Role Overview

Rapid User Researcher (Rolling UXR) at Notion. You’ll run fast, high-signal usability and concept tests on a steady cadence to improve Notion’s product experiences across Product, Design, and Engineering—especially AI-powered workflows such as custom agents and chat.

What You’ll Achieve

• End-to-end tactical research: Scope, design, and execute quick-turn studies across the product lifecycle with clear, actionable recommendations.
• Rolling usability testing: Plan and moderate rapid usability tests on prototypes and in-product flows; identify friction/comprehension gaps/failure points and recommend practical fixes (including prototyping them with AI).
• Concept testing: Evaluate early ideas (storyboards, low/high-fidelity prototypes, new IA) to assess desirability, comprehension, and expected workflows before teams invest heavily.
• Research pipeline ownership: Maintain an always-on program—manage intake/prioritization, study cadence, participant recruitment, and consistent output formats.
• Communication & decision support: Provide crisp recommendation readouts (e.g., severity, confidence, next steps) via async write-ups, clips, or working sessions.
• Business-minded impact: Tie findings to outcomes (why it matters, what to change, what to watch) and follow through to ensure improvements land.

Skills You’ll Need to Bring

• Research craft: Independently run usability/concept tests end-to-end (scoping → protocol → moderation → synthesis → readout) while keeping scope tight without losing rigor.
• Thoughtful AI use: Use AI to speed prep/synthesis while maintaining quality and traceability to evidence.
• AI fluency: Hands-on curiosity with AI products; translate abstract concepts (trust, usefulness, tone, safety, clarity) into observable behaviors and research questions.
