Range Keeper

Role Overview

Range Keeper for Burwash Training Ranges (Burwash, Ontario). Reporting to the Project Manager, you will provide shooting range services and support the operation, maintenance, and readiness of outdoor military training facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain shooting range assets
  • Schedule and manage repair/maintenance of target components (including 1080 and 1080 fig. 12 target systems).
  • Replace target frames and manage paper target figure setup/removal.
• Range operations & inspections
  • Oversee in/out inspections and ensure ranges/buildings are returned as found.
  • Walk range perimeter fencing and report infrastructure issues/work orders to the Company office.
  • Conduct routine operational day-to-day maintenance.
• Event support & flexible availability
  • Provide flexible hours to accommodate march in/march out processes, including occasional evenings/weekends.
  • Coordinate inspections with Exercise Directors (OIC Exercise) and ensure required documentation is signed.
• Incident and equipment reporting
  • Record/report incidents, damages, causes, and vandalism (including graffiti).
  • Report malfunctioning equipment (including kitchen/laundry equipment).
• Safety, compliance, and subcontractor control
  • Maintain and replenish First Aid and Fire Fighting supplies/equipment.
  • Get Project Manager authority before calling in subcontractors.
• Property maintenance & visitor readiness
  • Maintain ranges/infrastructure: grass cutting, snow removal, ice control, pruning, and upkeep.
  • Operate/maintain tools and machinery as required (e.g., tractors and attachments, power tools).
• Housekeeping and waste management
  • Provide janitorial services in range buildings.
  • Manage waste disposal and recycling, pest control, and litter pickup.
  • Stock/assist with janitorial supplies for visitors.

Requirements

• Valid Ontario driver’s license and ability to safely operate company vehicles/equipment.
• Ability to work flexible hours (weekdays/weekends/evenings) based on range reservations.
• Suitable physical fitness for moderate lifting and walking over rough terrain.
• Experience/knowledge in shooting range operations.
• General property maintenance background.
• Ability to operate small-to-medium machinery/tools, including (as applicable): tractors/attachments, lawn mowers, trimmers, walk-behind snow blowers, plow truck, power saws, and hand tools.
• Must pass a security clearance and adhere to company ethics, conduct, and confidentiality requirements.
• Demonstrated English communication, plus interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic and provide superior customer service.

Nice-to-Haves
