About the role
Role Overview
Quality Engineering Manager to lead a distributed team of Quality Engineers embedded in Agile squads. Own quality engineering practice and outcomes against defined targets, partnering across teams to advance automation and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Quality Engineers embedded in Agile squads (careers, practice, and resource allocation).
- Own the Quality Engineering practice across squads: enforce release readiness standards and drive continuous improvement.
- Partner cross-functionally to identify critical automation paths and turn them into quality gates aligned with customer needs.
Profile / Requirements
- Active view of AI in QE: evaluate/adopt AI to accelerate QA work; ensure the team reviews AI output before shipping; help teams extract more value from AI tools over time.
- Strong QE technical depth and breadth: credible engagement with engineering peers on test strategy, critical automation paths, and tooling decisions; mentor ICs on:
- test design
- debugging flaky tests
- decomposing features for coverage
- reviewing automation critically
- Proven experience using AI tools/technologies to improve workflows and decision-making.
- 3+ years managing a quality-focused engineering team with results reducing defect leakage (or equivalent quality metrics) and sustaining improvements.
- QE mindset: define what good looks like, own squad-level quality outcomes, and partner with tooling/automation to keep automation reliable and well-maintained with zero tolerance for flaky tests.
- Strong judgment in ambiguity and clear communication: surface risks and quality signals early with a proposed path; present quality metrics and trade-offs to senior leadership.
Nice-to-Haves
- None explicitly stated beyond the AI-in-QE and automation-quality-gates focus.
