Quality Engineer

Role: Quality Engineer

Build quality into the engineering process for AI-driven, data-rich products. You’ll design and scale automation, tooling, and quality/performance systems so the team can ship complex AI products with confidence.

What you’ll work on

• Test automation & quality infrastructure: build and scale automation frameworks, quality tooling, and testing systems.
• Core automation frameworks: lead the design and implementation of automation frameworks, including migrating from Cypress to Playwright.
• Performance testing: develop and operate a performance testing framework.
• Root cause analysis: triage and debug failures to determine whether issues are in the product, the tests, or the environment, and route to the right owner.
• Challenging quality problems: tackle issues from automation architecture through AI-assisted testing, driving projects from ideation to deployment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver large-scale, cross-functional quality initiatives.
• Perform independent triage and debugging of test failures, including flaky tests and product defects.
• Collaborate deeply with software engineers to understand systems under test and improve the team’s overall quality bar.
• Provide technical leadership/mentorship as needed.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years building and maintaining test automation for complex software systems.
• Strong programming ability in JavaScript/TypeScript and comfortable writing production-grade automation code.
• Proven track record delivering quality strategy/initiatives and leading projects.
• Ability to perform root cause analysis on both product bugs and failing/flaky tests.
• Hands-on experience integrating AI into the quality workflow (e.g., test generation and flaky-test triage) with good judgment on when to review AI output.
• Experience mentoring engineers and raising engineering quality standards.

Nice to have

• Experience driving quality vision across multiple engineering environments.

• Based in Austin, Texas; the company is open to exploring remote options for qualified candidates (also has offices in San Francisco, CA and Concord, NH).
