About the role

Role Overview

Senior Quality Assurance Engineer embedded within an Agile/SAFe delivery team. You will partner with Developers, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters to ensure quality for mission-critical public safety software, including the HxGN OnCall application suite.

Responsibilities

Own quality outcomes for assigned features/components as an embedded QA partner in an Agile/SAFe team
Collaborate early to refine user stories, acceptance criteria, and test scenarios
Promote shift-left quality practices (TDD/BDD) across the development lifecycle
Design, execute, and maintain manual and automated tests (story/feature/regression)
Expand automated test coverage; Playwright is a strong advantage
Perform functional, integration, regression, and exploratory testing throughout sprints
Identify, document, triage defects with reproduction steps, severity, and impact
Participate in Agile ceremonies: backlog refinement, sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives
Investigate defects using logs/system behavior and support root-cause analysis
Improve QA standards, tooling, and best practices with other QA engineers
Use Azure DevOps for test management, defect tracking, and traceability
Work in a Windows 11 environment and leverage Microsoft Office tools as needed

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in CS/Software Engineering or equivalent experience
5+ years as a QA Engineer/Software Test Engineer within Agile teams
Deep understanding of Agile and SAFe and how QA supports iterative delivery
Strong QA methodologies, test design techniques, and defect lifecycle management
Experience with TDD and BDD principles
Ability to write clear, maintainable, comprehensive test cases and documentation
Experience balancing manual testing with automation
Familiarity with automation frameworks such as Playwright
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Self-motivated, accountable, adaptable; comfortable in fast-paced collaborative environments

Nice-to-Haves

Familiarity with public safety domain/mission-critical operations
Strong Playwright automation experience
