Quality Assurance Engineer SME I
Location: Alexandria, VA (Flexible remote/hybrid schedules mentioned)
Role Overview
The Quality Assurance Engineer SME I supports software testing and quality assurance activities for a task order. You will partner with Automation Engineers, developers, and technical leads to ensure testing is thorough, repeatable, and aligned with mission objectives. The role focuses on strengthening QA practices for cloud and data-driven solutions, improving test coverage and regression health, and helping integrate automation into the development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Support test planning, execution, and defect tracking
- Work with automation and development teams to validate testing outcomes
- Assist in implementing automation testing strategies, toolsets, and their integration into development processes
- Contribute to QA process improvements and recommend enhancements
- Interpret test results, identify defects, and communicate risks and outcomes to stakeholders
- Document test cases, results, and defects; share knowledge with the team
- Build expertise in modern quality engineering practices and apply emerging tools/techniques
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of software testing experience (within a project/task order)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable contractor fitness determination
- Experience working with Automation Engineers and development teams for test execution/validation
- Experience in environments using modern cloud and data technologies
- Experience supporting integration of QA/testing practices into development processes
- Familiarity with modern quality engineering and test automation practices in cloud/data environments
- Knowledge of QA processes, adhering to established testing standards and procedures
- Strong analytical, collaboration, and communication skills
- Ability to provide guidance to junior team members
