Quality Assurance Engineer III (Remote)

Ad Hoc is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer III to serve as an emerging individual contributor, helping drive quality improvements and supporting delivery against scope, schedule, and release requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain test cases (manual and automated) using Selenium, Cypress, and Playwright; support 90%+ automated test coverage for new/modified code
• Perform functional, regression, and accessibility testing each sprint, validating stories against acceptance criteria and blocking merges that fail automated test gates
• Run SonarQube quality gate checks and Axe/pa11y accessibility scans on merge requests; escalate issues requiring remediation
• Validate API contracts and backend behavior using Postman and Rest Assured
• Collaborate with developers during sprint planning to define clear acceptance criteria and test criteria, ensuring the Definition of Done includes passing automated tests and adequate coverage
• Participate in CI/CD pipeline instrumentation with GitLab to shift quality left (defects caught earlier)
• Build reusable automation frameworks and test scripts in Java and JavaScript to reduce repetitive manual testing
• Proactively create exploratory and edge-case tests for new functionality, including third-party integrations (e.g., Pay.gov, login.gov, deposit format validation)
• Participate in SAFe ceremonies and contribute to program testing strategy across domains
• Support recruiting by evaluating QA homework assignments and potentially assisting with interviews

Basic Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant QA engineering experience
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)

Nice-to-have / Implied

• Strong experience with automated testing, accessibility testing, and API contract validation in CI/CD workflows
• Familiarity with SAFe and testing strategy across multiple program domains
• Experience testing government or third-party integrations (e.g., Pay.gov, login.gov)
