Quality Assurance Engineer I / II

Role Overview

The Quality Assurance Engineer (QAE) ensures the quality and reliability of Hitachi High-Tech America software products, including hiRecipe, hi-Frame, and Result Viewer. The role involves building and executing manual and automated test plans, verifying functionality, and supporting quality standards across the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Execute manual and automated test cases to verify software meets requirements.
• Develop, review, and maintain test plans, test cases, and test scenarios.
• Create traceability matrices linking test cases to use cases and primary requirements.
• Perform functional, regression, performance, load, sanity, and negative testing across modules.
• Run end-to-end automation using frameworks for JUnit, API, GUI, and unit tests.
• Investigate abnormal measurement value issues (e.g., CD-SEM) and validate software upgrades for compatibility and performance.
• Collaborate with development on technical documentation and support continuous integration efforts.
• Prepare training materials, technical documentation, and customer presentations.
• Coordinate with global teams, including QA reviews and process improvements (including meetings at the Naka factory in Japan).
• Provide first-line customer support for product-related issues and perform system/smoke testing for release readiness.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years hands-on software testing experience.
• Strong manual (functional) testing experience for enterprise applications/platforms.
• 5+ years recent testing experience on Linux (RHEL/CentOS preferred).
• Extensive experience with automated testing frameworks, especially JUnit.
• 3+ years testing Java / J2EE applications and middleware (preferably JBoss), including message queues, multi-threading, and databases.
• Ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally.

Nice to Have

• Experience testing C++ software.
• Prior experience in start-up environments.

Work Model & Travel

• Hybrid model with approximately 70% remote work.
• Domestic and international travel including potential visits to Japan (Naka factory).
