Quality Assurance Engineer

Role: Quality Assurance Engineer

USPS is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to support the USPS Customer Tools application through both manual and automated testing. You will ensure the quality and reliability of application releases by testing in staging and validating deployments in production.

Responsibilities

• Review test requirements, specifications, and release documentation for staging and production.
• Prepare and manage test data for staging and production.
• Design, execute, and document functional test cases across staging and production.
• Run regression testing to ensure changes don’t break existing functionality.
• Log, track, and prioritize defects using ALM and VersionOne.
• Collaborate with developers to verify defect fixes in both environments.
• Validate deployment and configuration in staging and production.
• Execute smoke tests in production post-deployment and perform sanity/functional tests for critical workflows.
• Monitor application logs and system alerts for issues.
• Report, track, and escalate issues as needed.
• Produce detailed test evidence and documentation for production sign-off.
• Communicate findings to stakeholders and participate in release meetings.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in software QA/testing.
• 1+ year load testing experience using Azure Load Test Suite and jMeter.
• 1+ year experience testing applications on Google Cloud Platform, IBM WebSphere, and Wildfly.
• Experience creating and communicating clear test plans, scenarios, and cases using HP ALM (or similar tools).
• Ability to run manual tests and determine when to incorporate automation.
• Experience building/utilizing test automation scripts/framework using UFT.
• Ability to write detailed defect reports.

• Transitioning manual cases into automation (the role mentions moving toward an automated regression suite using Playwright).
