QA Lead

QA Lead (IC-leader)

Rugiet is hiring a hands-on QA Lead to own quality as customer experience—not just code correctness. You will build and lead QA efforts by walking real patient flows, driving quality left, and strengthening automation and CI/CD quality gates end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Run the patient experience end-to-end on production (active accounts, live prescriptions across product lines), across intake → provider review → fulfillment/shipping → refills → support touchpoints.
• Own quality for anything that could confuse, frustrate, or erode trust, including copy ambiguity, layout regressions, slow flows, inconsistent states, and email/checkout timing issues.
• Walk web and mobile flows regularly on real devices to catch issues from a customer perspective.
• Translate product/business context into testing priorities (revenue-critical, clinically sensitive, and higher-risk vs lower-risk flows).
• Lead and shift quality left by setting QA strategy/roadmap, embedding in sprint planning, design reviews, and architecture discussions.
• Define testability as part of the definition of done and partner with engineering to make it stick.
• Lead root-cause analysis on escapes and implement systemic fixes rather than patches.
• Build and maintain the automation backbone:
  • Write/maintain automated tests (unit, integration, E2E)
  • Audit current automation tooling and decide what to keep, retire, or rebuild while transitioning from an external vendor to in-house automation
  • Build reliable CI/CD quality gates to catch regressions before production
• Instrument coverage and quality metrics and report them to leadership.
• Use modern tooling, including AI-assisted testing (e.g., test generation, visual regression, flake detection, intelligent triage) where it delivers real value.

Requirements

• Hands-on QA leadership experience with strong automation skills.
• Ability and willingness to personally run real production patient journeys end-to-end.
• Experience owning automation frameworks and CI/CD quality gates.
• Strong product and customer-obsessed mindset; focus on UX/patient trust issues even when they don’t show up as “bugs”.
• Ability to embed in engineering/product workflows and drive quality discussions early.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience transitioning from external QA/automation vendors to in-house automation.
• Pragmatic experience applying AI-assisted testing in real pipelines.

Team & Collaboration

• Reports into engineering.
• Works closely with product, design, clinical ops, and the provider network.
• Leads as an IC-leader and will mentor/manage a growing QA team (small today, expected to grow).
