QA Engineer

Role Overview

QA Engineer (Remote, Contract-to-Hire) joining a growing development team to support software quality assurance. This is a hands-on role focused on manual testing, test case creation, and defect identification in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Execute manual testing on new and existing software features
• Write, review, and maintain detailed test cases and test plans
• Collaborate with senior QA and developers to validate test coverage and approach
• Identify, document, and track bugs/defects throughout the development lifecycle
• Perform API and data validation testing using SQL and JSON
• Work with developers to validate fixes and enhancements
• Support overall QA processes and continuous improvement initiatives
• Proactively test applications from multiple angles, including functionality and performance checks

Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)

• 2–4 years of experience in manual QA
• Strong SQL experience for data validation/testing
• Experience working with JSON data structures
• Proven ability to write and execute test cases
• Strong attention to detail and defect-detection ability
• Self-starter with strong communication skills and ability to learn quickly

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience testing Web APIs
• Experience with Azure DevOps or Jira for test management/defect tracking
• Exposure to Agile or SDLC environments

Contract Details & Location

• 6-month contract-to-hire
• Remote (preference for candidates located in the Tri-State area)

Compensation

• $40–$52/hour (contract)
• Conversion salary: $80,000–$95,000 annually
