QA Engineer II

Role Overview

QA Engineer II is an individual-contributor role responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of software products within project teams. You will execute testing activities, validate requirements (including accessibility standards), and support sprint delivery goals.

Responsibilities

• Execute functional, regression, and accessibility testing each sprint cycle
• Validate implemented stories against acceptance criteria
• Write and maintain manual and automated test cases
• Develop/maintain automated tests using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright
• Validate API behavior using Postman or Rest Assured
• Collaborate with developers on test case development
• Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines (notably GitLab)
• Participate in load and performance testing activities
• Contribute to Agile ceremonies and support testability-first engineering

Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant QA engineering experience (or equivalent education/experience)
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Proficiency with test automation frameworks: Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright
• Experience developing test plans and executing manual/automated test cases
• Familiarity with API testing tools: Postman or Rest Assured
• Working knowledge of accessibility testing tools: Axe and pa11y
• Experience integrating tests into CI/CD, particularly GitLab
• Understanding of load and performance testing concepts/tools
• Solid grasp of Agile testing and sprint-based delivery
• Ability to meet federal suitability requirements and pass a background investigation

Nice to Have

• Experience in federal government digital services and accessibility standards
• Experience supporting testability from the outset with development teams
