QA Engineer II

Role Overview

QA Engineer II within the Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) Product Development team. You will design, implement, and maintain automation frameworks to ensure high-quality testing across complex, distributed, real-time autonomous systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop risk-based test plans and automation coverage strategies based on AHS architecture, dependencies, and safety constraints.
• Work with product and engineering teams to translate requirements into automated test plans with measurable acceptance criteria.
• Define and execute comprehensive quality strategies across:
  • Functional testing
  • Performance testing
  • Security testing
  • Failover testing
• Build and continuously improve automation frameworks and integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines using infrastructure as code.
• Drive shift-left testing by embedding test hooks during design, managing test data versions, and maintaining regression suites.
• Perform manual testing for edge cases and exploratory testing, while automating routine tests.
• Analyze defect trends and run blameless postmortems, implementing automated checks to prevent recurrence.
• Create and publish dashboards to track testing trends, defect escape rates, and mean time to recovery.
• Manage compatibility matrices and deployment configurations to support global validation.

Requirements

• 4+ years combined experience in software or systems testing.
• 2+ years building and scaling test automation frameworks.
• Proficiency in at least one modern language: Java, Python, or C#.
• Strong experience with REST/gRPC API automation and UI automation.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD, containerization, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Ability to manage work from requirements scoping to production deployment.
• Experience testing complex, distributed, or real-time systems.
• Proven ability to mentor less experienced QA resources.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and cross-functional communication skills.

Nice-to-Haves / Additional

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software, or Systems Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Willingness to travel up to 10% internationally.
