About the role
Role Overview
QA Engineer II (Banking) at Acorns. You’ll be a QA champion embedded within the Banking Engineering team, ensuring Acorns Banking products are accurate, transparent, and reliable. The role is remote-first, with optional office access in Irvine, CA.
Responsibilities
- Own quality strategy and execution for critical banking services in a Scrum-based Agile environment.
- Maintain and stabilize automation test cases in the automation suite, aligned with organizational quality metrics.
- Drive automation coverage toward 50% across test types (unit, snapshot, integration, e2e) within the first six months.
- AI-first acceleration: prototype and implement AI/automation to improve testing efficiency, quality, and velocity (e.g., test case generation, anomaly detection).
- Reduce risk by identifying problems, proposing solutions, and working on projects that mitigate risk and improve software quality; success includes reducing escape rate/incidents.
- Design and execute test plans for significant banking components/features and complex scenarios.
- Contribute to CI/CD adoption and team progress toward Acorns’ Continuous Delivery strategy in the next six months.
- Partner cross-functionally with Product Marketing and Data Analytics/Engineering to ensure product testing and data integrity.
- Mentorship: after six months, mentor another QA engineer or present banking domain knowledge to the wider QA team.
- Lead emerging tech efforts to support and assure emerging banking technologies.
