QA Automation Engineer II

Role Overview

Join Juniper Square as a QA Automation Engineer II, partnering with product and engineering teams to define and drive manual and automated testing. You’ll focus on product quality and advocate for the end-user experience, using AI-assisted analysis to catch edge cases early.

What You’ll Do

• Review functional specifications and technical design documents; provide feedback and use AI-assisted analysis to identify edge cases/logic gaps early in the SDLC.
• Collaborate with developers to define automation test cases.
• Use AI-powered IDEs (e.g., Cursor, Augment) to rapidly prototype and scaffold new test suites.
• Design, develop, and execute test cases for product features and backend systems.
• Maintain and extend automation frameworks such as Cypress/Playwright/Locust, using LLMs to refactor code, optimize scripts, and reduce flaky tests.
• Generate automated test result reports and surface potential quality risks.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and track bugs to resolution, leveraging AI tools for root cause analysis and log interpretation.
• Advocate for automation by recommending ways to reduce manual effort through automated solutions and AI-driven test generation.
• Contribute to team best practices, including ethical and effective AI use within QA workflows.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years in Software Quality Assurance, with strong experience testing web applications.
• Experience building and maintaining web test automation frameworks (preferably Playwright).
• Proficiency in at least one programming language: JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python.
• Proactive use of AI-powered tools (e.g., Augment, Cursor, Gemini) for test authoring, debugging, and documentation workflows.
• Hands-on manual and/or automated testing of REST and/or GraphQL APIs (e.g., Postman, RestAssured, Locust).
• Strong understanding of CI/CD and the software development lifecycle, including code review practices, coverage analysis, and continuous testing.
• Familiarity with Git, TestRail, and Jira.

Nice to Have

• Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
• Knowledge of cloud environments (e.g., AWS) and experience with application deployments.
